The International Press Institute is a global press freedom network based in Vienna. Set up in 1950 in the aftermath of the Second World War, it was founded on the belief that a free press could contribute to the creation of a better world. Its aim is to further and safeguard press freedom, the promotion of free flow of news and information and the improvement of the practices in journalism worldwide.
